FAQs

When are you open?

The Shrine is open every day from 9am to 8pm. All are invited to visit and spend time with our Blessed Mother and her Son in the Shrine.

How do I join?

Membership is open to all. We invite you to attend one of the celebrations listed in the monthly gathering section, reach out to a branch leader if you are interested in joining a group, or become a volunteer. Members of the hospitality team are always available to answer questions after mass or celebrations at the Shrine.

What is a Movement?

A movement is a broad current in society inspired by a common cause or charism, usually motivated by the desire to reform, renew or defend some aspect of life. It can be inspired by a spiritual or religious cause.

At its heart is generally a specific charism, such as renewal of the faith. It can focus on personal or community renewal (faith formation, striving for holiness, marriage and family life) or on the great works of the Church. A particular strength of movements is lay involvement (See the section under about us for more information on Movement and movement structure.)

How do I schedule a group visit?

Groups are welcome to visit the Shrine and have a day of retreat or spend time in prayer. Groups wanting to reserve meeting space in the Movement House and the Shrine for specific prayer time or Mass should contact us to make a reservation.  Please fill out the Group Planning Form to submit your request. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

Are you a church?

We are a Shrine, which is different than a church or parish. This and all Schoenstatt Shrines are places of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation.

In the Shrine, our Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt, who leads us to God, offers the grace of a home in her Motherly heart for everyone who seeks answers in the confusion and uncertainty of life. Here we also experience a place of conversion and inner transformation. It is from here that the faithful are sent forth as disciples and missionaries to spread God’s word wherever they go.

The Austin Schoenstatt Shrine was dedicated on September 13th, 2014 – in Schoenstatt’s Jubilee Year – as the third Shrine in Texas and the tenth Shrine in the United States. As is every Schoenstatt Shrine, it is a replica of the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt, Germany.

Can anyone attend the Masses?

Yes, everyone is invited to attend Mass at the Shrine. We offer Holy Mass every Sunday at 10:30am in English and every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at 12:30pm in Spanish. During the week we have daily Mass on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7am and Saturdays at 9:30am. Special Masses are held for Marian Feast days and holy days of obligation. Please see the Calendar for the complete Mass schedule.

Do you have a gift shop?

Yes. The gift shop is inside the Movement House and is open every day from 10am to 5pm as shrine guardians are available.

We have religious items and books for sale in the gift shop. All proceeds from items and books sold go to support the Schoenstatt Fathers and seminarians.  We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards as well as Venmo: @SchoenstattATX. Please make checks payable to the Schoenstatt Fathers.

Where are you located?

We are located at 225 Addie Roy Rd, Austin, TX 78746, west of Highway 360 (Capital of Texas Highway) just off FM 2244.  If traveling west from 360, Addie Roy Road will be the first right after the light at Barton Creek Blvd. Follow the curve in the road and you will see the Shrine on your right.

Do you offer confessions?

Reconciliation is typically offered during Sunday Mass.

Do you offer other worship opportunities?

Yes, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is offered every Thursday after daily mass from 7:30am until 6pm. The young adults host Adoration on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm. Please refer to the Calendar for other events.
